WindowsXp64BitProfessional won't power off on shut down
My service pack 2 version of XP 64 bit Pro will not power off on shut down.
It leaves me with a blue screen and the mouse cursor. I have to wait at
least a half hour before doing a reset since there is still disk activity
and resetting right away will mess up the installation.
Any help?

WLM installer
I downloaded Windows Live Mail from
http://get.live.com/wlmail/ however when I try to run the
application I get the message "WLinstaller.exe is not a valid win32
application'. I am running Vista64 Ultimate. Any suggestions?
No ideas in the WLM group and the same installer works on another 64-bit OS
and on a 32-bit version of Windows Vista.

hello i'm trying to download mcafee security, and it says that i don't have
sufficient memory to download it. How do you free up memory space verbatum
and where do i look for any and all the information about my memory also its
not a cd download but a download from the internet.

uninstall vista 64bit from system with dual boot vista 32 an 64 os
My pc repair shop did a dual install of vista 64 bit that is running 32 bit
also.Recently i had a friend help me build a new rig using the same 64bit

xp64 printer install problem, services, print spool and RPC proble
Can't install 64 bit Dell lazer printer. Error message; printer spool not
activated, or RPC not running. Turn both on, but while trying to install,

Unreadable Excel and Word Files

mirroring and windows server 2008 64 bit
I have a 64 bit windows 2008 server and want to setup mirroring and have
several questions. I currently have 1 500gb disk. Obviously I need to get
another.
1) I've read about how to setup the mirroring and found it mentioned several

Wallpaper "slideshow"
Does anyone know if there is a wallpaper "slideshow" program that doesn't
need "adm. privilages" to install. Would be nice if Microsoft would have

how to download audio driver
My notebook just went mute. According to the audio section of the control
panel I have no audio device. On the Sounds hardware list, all items are
working except the "Conexant high Definition Audio-Venice 5046, location
65535(Internal Definition Audio Bus). It says to reinstall the drivers for

32 bit software sniffs my OS and says phooey
I'm really curious why an application (blackberry sync) checks my OS
(x64) and won't load. It doesn't have a driver issue (I already have
BB 64 bit drivers), so wouldn't any program just load up and run under
WOW?
I'll call RIM, which will probably get me to a customer support person
who will just say the software isn't supported, but I'd like to
understand the issue in a generic 32 versus...

Creating GPT RAID volume in Windows XP Pro x64
I bought a Syba SATA II NCQ Host Controller Card with RAID support and four
Western Digital 1 TB (actually 931 GB - liars!) hard drives. I created a

Anti Virus Recommedations? Tired of AVG8 Free

Standby woes Redux
A couple of weeks back I posted my investigation regarding standby issues in
my PC.
Problem was "PC restarts when entering resume".
The solution had been based in restoring a good set of BIOS values from a
good known stored profile.

Remote Desktop session with /span option forced to 8bit color
When I remote into my computer (XP x64) with the /span option, color is
forced to 8 bit. I recently upgraded from 32bit XP, and never had this

Help with Slingbox Remote Access, please

Task Scheduler Engine
I am currently running Vista 64-bit and have noticed an issue. My computer
is getting slower and slower (quad core CPU and 8GB RAM). I opened the Task
Manager this morning and noticed there are ~450 Task Scheduler Engines
running. Has anyone else run across this issue? I just opened it again and

value of performance index and reliability index
I am running Vista ultimate 64 bit. It is on a Tyan Thunder 2885 mother
board with 4 gigs of memory, it is a raid 5, and an ATI 3850 agp video card
.. Dual 275 dual opterons. If I was to value the performance rating 5.8,
