This Briefcase requires a newer version of the software
Hi All,
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
I have installed the Evaluation version, which is fully updated.
However, using a Briefcase to contain my Downloads, rather than a simple
Download Folder, I can open the New Briefcase on the Desktop with no
problems. With the Briefcase closed, I attempted to save a download into the
Briefcase Folder, so the Briefcase is not in...

# of procs
Windows 2003 x64 sp1
Without rebooting, how can I tell how many procs my box has? Task manager
shows 4, system info shows 4, and I "think" I have 2 dual-core procs. I
need to know for sure, without bouncing the box. I also want to make sure
that 1 dual-core hyperthreaded proc doesn't show up as 4 procs.
Thanks, Andre

Belkin FireWire 800 F5U623-APL Card in Windows x64
I want to install a Belkin FireWire 800 F5U623-APL card in my Tyan
K8WE (S2895) motherboard. From the looks of the card on the Belkin
site, it is a 64-bit card, and it should work in a PCI-X slot.
However, Belkin does *not* indicate support for Windows x64 on their
website. Belkin *does* report that their card has a Texas Instruments
1394B chip on it, however.
Can I use the free Unibrain...

Re: Can I install XP Home on a virtual PC without a licensing snafu
Although your rational may seem sound, it's really trying to
split hairs. The EULA was written before virtual machines
were practical for home use. The reality is that to install
and use any version of Windows in a VM requires it to be
Activated in the same manner as a non-VM installation and
Microsoft only allows you to have one instance of a Product
Key activated at any given time(...

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
I have an x64 Vista Ultimate installation that is getting this error
seemingly at random. Some research has shown this as likely to be a driver
problem and Verifier to be the method to check this. Unfortunately, while
Verifier does throw a different error, stating that a driver is attempting to
corrupt the list, it does not identify the offending driver. Furthermore, I
don't seem to b...

Path not being searched...?!
Hi all,
Today I've noticed some strange problem, and the more I look at it the more
I'm getting convinced that something is *very* wrong with my system.
It started when I ran ipconfig from a command prompt:
"'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable
program or batch file."
In other word, it couldn't find the ipconfig.exe.
Sure enough, it was in th...

iexplor.exe 32-bit instead of 64-bit
Hi,
I have Windows XP Pro X64. I checked Windows Task Manager and discovered
that my computer is using "iexplore.exe *32" instead of *64. I get automatic
updates so I'm sure that my computer is up-to-date. When is an X64 version
expected to come out?

me at least how long takes my computer to boot.
I have already thought about a watch but it's not accurate enough for my

Hotfixes for a 64-bit system running a 32-bit web application
Hello,
I have a Intel 64-bit box that is housing a 32-bit web application.
In order to make the app work correctly we had to switch IIS to run in
32-bit mode, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894435. My question
is now that I need to install an "optional" ASP.net hotfix, which
version do i apply? There are four possibilities:
intl_i386_zip.exe
intl_x64_zip.exe
intl_ia64_zip.exe
