OT: Carlos - Web interface?
Carlos - what link do you use for the web interface to this NG? And is that
alive, or are you only able to post and see posts via the NNTP side? We've
had a major problem on the MS web interface to newsgroups for the last week,
and while I think it's back to life now, I'm not seeing the 64-bit NG, but
I'm not sure the correct path to get there.
Thanks!

8 Gbytes using 32 bit Vista
I've been informed that 32 bit Vista can see more than 4Gbytes. That
is, if you have 8Gbtes in the system, 32 bit Vista can allocate ram
per process in 4Gbyte chunks, using all 8 GBytes should there be
enough processes. Can one of you gurus elaborate on this?...

DRIVERS
It appears totally senseless to install this software to me. I did and then
found out that nobody has a usb wireless adapter with a driver for this OS.
If anybody out there knows of one, I might decide to re-install this piece of
Microsoft garbage. Otherwise, I intend to go back to a 32 bit OS, even
though I have a 64 Bit machine.

OT - Virtualbox x86 & x64 2.1.0 released
Sun has released a new version of its freeware virtualization program
Virtualbox (www.virtualbox.org).
As of v2.0 it supports x64 guests and there is also USB 2.0 support.
The interesting item in this new release is that it also supports x64 guests
in 32-bit hosts, provided you have a 64-bit microprocessor.
Yes, you read it right. You may be running XP 32-bit and have Vista x64
running in...

situation? Not really a problem as I am currently experimenting with a
handful of other browsers. ...

AHCI SATA mode - From Native IDE Mode - Workaround
Hello Anybody!
If you have installed Windows Vista, with the On Chip SATA Controller
operating in Native IDE mode (default) in bios, and you decide to change

have been added with the option: add storage drivers, during the first
part of the installation. Changing the BIOS setting to operate in AHCI
mode simply will ...

Fresh install of Vista 64
A while back I dumped my 32 bit Vista and loaded 64. Now I am having
reservations on the way I did it. I loaded all the drivers and updates and
wonder if it wouldn't have been smarter to be more selective on the drivers.
For example I have the Creative XB x-Fi. I loaded the Dell versions of the
drivers etc. and noticed the volume of the sound is much lower. Of course
the SB versions ...
