=============================== Long reply....scroll down for info...
Might be worth a try to import the .avi files into Windows Media Encoder and save them in the .wmv format.
Windows Media Encoder http://tinyurl.com/bbal or... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en
How do I convert other video file formats to WMV? http://tinyurl.com/2o8uso or... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0065.mspx
Also you could try to import the .avi files into Movie Maker and save in the .wmv format.
Drag the .avi file to the timeline in Movie Maker...To save as a .wmv movie file... Go to...File / Save Movie File...or... Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard.
Or...you could upload the .avi files as is to a site like the following and then send your recipients the download link.
"YouSendIt" http://www.yousendit.com/
All you have to do is enter an e-mail address in the "To:" (Recipient) field and click the "Browse" button to select the file you wish to upload. Then click the "Send It" button.
The next screen that appears will give you the download link. Just copy/paste it into the message to your recipients who can download and view the file on their computer.
