it's related to codecs.... the ones used by RAD video tools to make the AVI files...
if you usually go with the default selected by RAD tools, you might need to select them yourself.
use GSpot to see which codecs the files are made with.... older ones that work in Movie Maker, assuming they still do... and new ones that don't.
