Check this by going to Computer; under Hard Disk Drives, there should only be one drive [c:] listed [assuming there is only one hard drive in your computer]. If a new partition was created, two hard drives will appear in this window. The easiest way to solve the issue, if two versions of Vista are on one partition, would be backing up any important files, formatting your hard drive, and starting over with a new install of Vista. -- Brian the King

You can store the files on C partition if they will fit, then transfer them back after the format. You can also use an external drive. Otherwise, you can delete the Vista files from the D drive. Make sure that your C partition is the active, system drive before doing anything with the D partition. You can use the msconfig (search) boot section to delete the entry for the deleted system.
