Click on Start - Control Panel and what you do next depends on if you have it set for Category View or Classic View in your control panel. With Category view, click on the Security Center icon, then click on Windows Firewall and then click on the Off (not recommended) radio button. For all you know, he could be sitting behind a full hardware firewall with excellent AV et al, and know he's "safe" but not the details of it all .. The point is; It's not up to you to decide whether the information you give them will cause them to "getting infected" although there is nothing wrong in explaining why it MAY BE the wrong thing to do and why you think that.
