word vs outlook printing
"ITNews" <ITNews[ at ]net.it> 12/20/2008 4:26:34 AM
The same printer and PCL driver prints ok from word, but blank pages from
outlook.
I was wondering what are the diferences between these two Microsoft
applications, when it comes to printing ... how do they handle it ....

Thanks in advance!

You'd have to ask in the Office newsgroups/forums. That information would
be application specific and not covered here in general printing issues.

Well, it's a printing issue on a Microsoft platform,
Microsoft Windows XP Operating System, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
applications ....

Part of my question is how do Microsoft Applications handle printing in
general.
If you are a Microsoft expert in Printing you could provide at least some
Microsoft links regarding my question.

Thanks for pointing me to the right newsgroup though, but there was no
answer from there either ...

It depends on the message format. If this is happening to HTML messages AND
you're running a version of Outlook prior to 2007 (you didn't specify), it's
likely due to some issue with Internet Explorer as Outlook uses IE's
rendering engine for HTML email and there have been blank page issues
between Outlook/Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. Word, by contrast,
uses it's own rendering engine. Outlook 2007 now uses a modified version of
the Word rendering engine.

Hello Hal,

You are saying that ...
Word uses it's own rendering engine
Outlook prior to 2007 uses IE's rendering engine
Outlook 2007 uses a modified version of the Word rendering engine

Actually, it's outlook 2007 that has blank pages issues and I have also
heard that Outlook 2007 has even more printing issues than Outlook versions
prior to 2007.

It sounds like this modified version of the Word rendering engine is the
problem.
Is there anyway to make outlook use the Word rendering engine, please?
If not, is there anyway to modify the modified version of the Word rendering
engine?

Thanks!
