Hi, I installed a clean fresh copy of Vista Ultimate 64-bit along with a complete upgrade of my computer. After I install the latest Catalyst 8.11 drivers, I get a black screen after I boot up. The green loading bar still shows up, but when the Windows Pearl and sound comes on the screen goes black just before that. The monitor does not come on and nothing on the computer seems to work. I can boot into safe mode however, and disable the video adapter in device manager, reboot and it boots up fine. I tried installing a fresh copy of 32-bit WinXP w/SP2 and everything worked just fine. No issues and I was playing Counter-strike and Fallout 3 with no crashes. This seems like either a vista issue or a drivers issue with vista. Oh, I also tried this with a 32-bit copy of Vista business and the exact same thing happens. Any help I can get in solving this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
p.s. the system i'm using is a AMD Phenom 9600 Quad 2.3, 4 GB G.Skill, Asus M3A78-EM mobo (has onboard video, Radeon HD3200), and a Sapphire Radeon 4850 512MB. I am watercooling the video card and plan to do the cpu when i get the adapter, but since I've been able to run Fallout in XP just fine, I'm getting good contact between core and waterblock, so it can't be a heat issue.

Try an earlier driver. Later drivers are not always better drivers.

I did try that, and then even tried the new 8.12 drivers. But it appears that it was a bad motherboard. After putting the waterblock on the CPU and getting the comp reassembled, I tried to turn the computer on and it was dead. Wouldn't even turn on. Hopefully it's just the motherboard. I'll post a reply once I get a new one.
