gpresult question
AF <none[ at ]none.com> 12/29/2008 6:41:41 PM
Why would gpresult show
Domain Type: Windows 2000
And mmc snap shows both domain functional level and forest functional
level as 2003?
Is there an issue here that needs to be resolved?

I think that's normal (the other option being NT4). You might post in
m.p.windows.group_policy....also might include info on the issue that
prompted you to run the command in the first place.

Hello,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that:

Gpresult shows wrong domain functional level in SBS 2003 environment.

If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Suggestions:
========================
Yes, this is a issue that occurs in Windows Server 2003 SP2 gpresult.exe
(version number 5.2.3790.3959) and maybe later versions. In the new version
delivered with Windows Server 2003 SP2 gpresult does a lookup for the
domain name in the registry of the client instead of the through LDAP
query. This may result in incorrect domain information being presented in
the Gpresult.

The issue has been forwarded to the product group. It may be corrected in
the later versions. Thanks again for your reporting.

Hope it helps. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,
Miles Li
