Lost all sound
JR5280 12/29/2008 10:44:09 PM
My son tried to reduce the CPU usage by removing programs which had no usage.
Everything works EXCEPT- 1. I had to reinstall Messenger Windows Live, 2. I
lost the Unused Desktop Icon and most critical 3. there is no sound on the
computer.

The speakers are powered. In the Control Panel, in Sounds and Audio Devices
under the Volume tab it says "No Audio Device" and the volume and speaker
settings are greyed out. In the Audio tab the Sound Playback and the
Recording both say "Modem #0 Line Record. I have no speaker (Volume Control)
in the tray.

I can't find my sound card (Turtle Beach Santa Cruz) in the Device Manager.
There are 3 yellow question marks in the Device Manager-under ?Other Devices
is listed ?Multimedia Audio Controller and ?Unsupported Device.

I was going to do a System Restore but I only have restore points for Dec
27, 28 and 29. I need to get back to Dec 23 or maybe Dec 24 for a clean
restoral.

I would really appreciate any help you can give.

Try reinstalling your Turtle Beach Software and Drivers.

Hi Rich,
I reinstalled the driver which fortunately was still on Dell's website for
my 2001 computer and the sound was restored. Thanks very much for your
solution.
