Windows Boot Up process
johow 11/25/2008 1:19:01 AM
Using Windows XP SP3. Recently on every boot up process I receive the
following message -- "F1 key to continue; F2 to run setup utility". Pressing
F1 completes the process normally. What must I do to get rid of this message.

Thanks

Look at your clock immediately after the screen comes up.
If its off, like year 2000, then the battery might be bad on the
motherboard and the need to hit F2 and run the setup is an indication
its low and you are losing your settings.

Very often caused by a flat m/b battery, the BIOS is losing settings.
Replace it, reset BIOS to defaults then customise settings to suit.

Flaky advice once again, Andrew. As the others have said, the OP probably
simply needs to change his battery. The problem has nothing to do with XP
and doing a Chkdsk just puts the OP's data at risk for no reason at all.

Read the BIOS error that's causing it, and correct it. This has
nothing to do with WinXP.
