DVD recording

Here's an opportunity for someone to shout "OFF TOPIC" at the top of their keyboard's lungs.

This being as close to a community as anything I have connection with I'm asking folks here where to find help about using a stand alone DVD recorder.

I just bought my first one and found that there's no place to connect Cable. Everything is RCA which seems to mean a DVD recorder can only be fed by other components, even though I think it says it has a tuner. I don't know if they all work that way. More to the point, I don't even know where to find out if they all work that way. Obviously this can't be construed as a

I think what you want to do is record to a DVD from a DVD player.

If this is true, you need to locate an output jack on the DVD player and
connect via cable to an input jack on your computer's sound card.

You will also need software like Nero or Roxio etc.

No, from cable channels.

Make/Model of the one you just purchased?

You purchased one that didn't have al the connections you might want -
that's just lack of research. ;-) Just like televisions and other
audio/video type devices - they can come with all sorts of combinations and
numbers of connections/connector types. Truthfully - some will be harder to
find than others.

That's just a random comparison page - may not even be 'up to date'.

Not to mention - with the right adapters or cable box - you can connect to
the DVD Recorder in a number of ways...

You connect your DVD recorder to an AV system using the RCA connectors.
Standalone DVD equipment for computers usually requires USB connections.
And, if you have a cable modem, you can access the signal from the AV
system.

If you wanted to hook this thing up to a computer, you bought the wrong
thing.
