Viewing JPEGS with WMP-11 & CinePlayer
Cal516 12/29/2008 3:58:04 AM
Whenever I attempt to view a jpeg file using WMP-11, it launches a
configuration process for CinePlayer (CinePlayer 5.0 is already installed and
working jim dandy thank you). The configuration process never ends.
Pressing "cancel" eventually clears the pop-up and displays the jpeg properly
and all other additional views attempted. Once WMP-11 is closed and reopen,
it opens the configuration process again at each initial attempt to view a
jpeg.

WMP 11.0.6001.7000
Vista Home Premium SP-1 (64 Bit)
Dell Inspiron 530 (Q9300 Quad Core) w/6 GB RAM

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

.... Cal

Hmm I've never heard of that but I'll have a stab.

I wonder if CinePlayer adds a plugin to media player. The settings for
that would be under Now Playing - click the small dropdown menu,
choose Plug-Ins -> Options...

Have a look under each category to see if there's a CinePlayer plugin
(possibly Window or Other DSP plugins most likely) - if there is, try
disabling that to see what happens.

In the vista Control Panel -> Default Programs -> Set your default
Programs : WMP doesn't normally have a JPEG setting, but perhaps
there's one for CinePlayer which I wouldn't normally expect it to
handle JPEGs (it sounds like a movie player)

If there is a default setting for CinePlayer to handle JPEG, does it
change anything to untick that default program setting ?

HTH
Cheers - Neil

Thanks Neil ... good suggestions both. Unfortunately, there are no
associations for CeinPlayer, nothing for WMP looks odd, and JPEGs are
correctly associated with Windows Photo Gallery. As you assumed, CeinPlayer
settings don't even mention JPEGs.

It sounds like CinePlayer is installing a shared component that's being
invoked by the player for JPEG playback.

What are the results of WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information menu
tool? Their DLL might show up there...
