Right click in an unused portion of the start bar, "Toolbars", Check "Windows Media Player".

K.rai-
Hey, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Media Outreach Team to help answer questions that folks might have about their copies of Windows Media Player.
It sounds like you are asking how to run Windows Media Player in "Mini Player" mode.
Here’s how to switch to mini Player mode:
1. Start Windows Media Player. 2. Right-click an open area of the Windows taskbar (such as below the system clock), and then point to Toolbars. A check mark next to the Windows Media Player command indicates that mini Player mode is turned on. If there is no check mark, click Windows Media Player to add one. 3. In the Player, click the Minimize button.
This will let you run Windows Media Player without having to even open a window, leaving you with a lot more desktop space for other applications.
I hope this was helpful, please let me if that isn't the answer you were looking for.
Thanks,
Cody Windows Media Outreach Team

What happens when you minimize the player these days? Do you see the option in the taskbar at all?

I understand what you mean, "click Windows Media Player to enable the mini player". However, there isn't any option that named "Windows Media Player" in the toolbar. It disappeared. What can I do?

Go to the Start menu, in the Search box, type
CMD
wait for the black command window to show in the vista program menu, then right-click that and choose "Run as administrator"
In the command window, type in these commands followed by <enter> key:
regsvr32 wmp.dll
regsvr32 "%programfiles%\windows media player\wmpband.dll"
Reboot the PC and see if that's now provided the WMPBand (toolbar player) option back to the right-click toolbar menu.
