WLM stops when an attacment is opened JM 10/6/2008 12:05:02 PM Windows Live Mail stops every time I open an attachment to an e-mail. After I reopen WLM, the attachement can be opened, but only once. If I try to open it again, WLM stops. Uninstalling and reinstalling WLM did not solve the problem.I have Windows Vista Premium.

If you follow the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329820/pt you should eventually make the problem go away. As many experienced users have pointed out in this and other forums, Norton seems to cause many problems, especially on Vista installations. WLMail operated without problems with Norton Internet Security 2008 during several months. Then, suddenly it started to show the reported problem. I suspected this hapened after one Windows Vista update was installed. I have another computer with NIS 2008 and it shows no problem - this computer has Windows xp SP3, not Windows Vista. After re-starting it allows opening of 1 attachment only. If a 2nd attachment or another attachment in another email was attempted to open - the same happens - it stops responding! I use Norton Internet Security 2008 as well & know for certain that Norton is not the cause of this frequent error. Could someone please help with a positive solution.
