How do I connect my Comcast Digital cable box to my desktop pc ??
Mr.Bill 10/9/2008 6:46:00 PM
Is there a way to connect Comcast cable to my desktop pc ?? .. I would like
to be able to record from cable directly to my hard drive, and in reverse, be
able to pick from a 'library' off my hard drive to watch movies ....

I have:
Display Adapter: ATI Technologies / All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500
DCT6200 Comcast digital cable box
Lynksys WRT54G v2.2 router

The back of the cable box has an Ethernet jack .. would I use that via the
router to connect to my pc, or would the pc connect via coax cable to the
back of the cable box ?? ...

I've got no clue, so any and all help will be very much appreciated ..

what version of windows are you running? do you have a TV tuner?
Below you list the video card driver, but if you want to use Media
Center on Vista, you need a tuner. If you are not using Vista, you
would need Media Center 2005, etc.

If you are not specifically running Windows Media Center or Vista,
you will need third party software. The info below is probably a
driver designation, not actual hardware version.

Not much we can do for you here since this newsgroup is strictly for
Windows Media Center and specifically Digital Cable Tuners for
cablecard for watching/recording HD.

If you don't have Media Center, there are probably third party apps
you can use. Maybe Beyond TV from Snapstream or something similar.
