Thanks for the response. I wouldn't even think about firing up a new one with using a UPS. I've never run into a situation where the UPS tab was not available in Windows XP Power Management, and I've only used APC's software one time before, but APC could have changed that. I ran out of time and went ahead and installed their software. I'm sure it will be fine, but IMO the XP UPS Power Management was less intrusive and just one less utility to boot up at start up.
