Have you done a disk cleanup? Start; Programs; Accessories; Tools; Disk Cleanup. May take a few minutes to run.
cpu speed? Amount of RAM? Boot drive size? Free space on boot drive? Did it happen all of a sudden or overnight? What changed just before the slowdown? Etc.

If you do not have CCleaner installed then I highly recommend that you do. It's free http://www.ccleaner.com/download
Also if you have Norton Internet Security or most any Norton AV product installed it will slow ones computer down as you describe. If you do and wish to uninstall I recommend AVG 8.0 Free Edition http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

[Quoted Text] > agonizingly slow computer,
Exactly how slow is "agonizingly slow"? Please put a number on it, even if it's an approximation.
Is it slow doing everything, or only some things? Which things?
Has it always been slow, or is this a recent occurrence? If the latter, what have you changed with respect to hardware or software.
What is your hardware configuration? What CPU and how much RAM do you have?
What applications do you run.
> no viruses, no malware, adware;
How do you know that? What software is telling it to you?
> have defragged and > checked disc and done disc and registry clean help
Running a registry cleaner will not help you, and can often be the root of problems. I strongly recommend that you never do that again.
What programs do you have starting automatically when you boot?

How full is your hard drive? I've found after the half full mark, you seam to slow down. If this is the case, put some files like music, on disk, to free some space up.

This is not at all correct. If that's been your experience, there was some other factor that you were unaware of.

You have to be more specific when you talk about being slow. Is it slow to start?, Is it slow to launch certain applications and is so which ones?, Is it slow to shut down? Is it slow to access the Internet but other apps run fine? What is the total amount of physical RAM? What is your processor speed?
I've had people complain about how slow their system is only to see that they are referring to their Dial-Up Internet connection. So help us help you by telling us more.

What part of "done disc and registry clean" don't you understand Twayne? I am sure, as you are positive, that it can't be the registry cleaner that is slowing his pc down right? :-)
