Here's how to remove the Recycle Bin from the Desktop, BUT! keep instructions on how to restore it. Step one: Right click the Recycle icon and make a shortcut; place the shortcut in the Quick launch area of the Taskbar. Seems the only area of the Taskbar that will accept it.
