Whenever I use total video convert to convert a WMA to MP3 format, window
media player cannot read it and show an error that ' codec 50 mpeg-1 is
missing' although my CD player can still read it(when I copied file to
USB and plugged it to the CD player).Anyone also suffered from similar
problems ?

Hi,
You might to check Control Panel>Default Programs>Set Associations and
see if media player is set as default for mp3
See Method Two in this tutorial

Hope it helps

Hi,
A quick google indicates an incompatibility between some third party
converters and wmp11 on Vista.
You may like to download K-Lite codec pack and try a different
conversion app. in future
'Free-Codecs.com : Download K-Lite Codec Pack 4.1.7 FULL, K-Lite Codec
Pack 4.1.7 STANDARD, K-Lite Codec Pack 3.8.0 BASIC : K-Lite Codec Pack
is a collection of codecs and related tools'
Hope this helps
