[ctp3] Needs ISE .NET Framework 3.5.1
Bernd K <guest[ at ]unknown-email.com> 12/30/2008 3:38:10 PM
Hello, I'm testing V2 CTP 3 in Window Vista Virtual Box. For unknown reasons .NetFramework 3.5.1 setup has failed repeatedly. In 'Download details: Windows PowerShell V2 CTP3' (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c913aeab-d7b4-4bb1-a958-ee6d7fe307bc&displaylang=en) it says that ISE depends on .NetFramework 3.5.1. My observations are that Out-Grid doesn't work, as announced, but ISE seems to run without any problems. DOES ANYBODY KNOWN WHERE ISE NEEDS .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5.1 ? By the way now there are some links, which help to explore and extend ISE: 'Windows PowerShell Blog : PowerShell ISE Can Do a Lot More Than You Think' (http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell/archive/2008/12/29/powershell-ise-can-do-a-lot-more-than-you-think.aspx) 'ISE - Comment out a block of text | Get-PowerShell' (http://get-powershell.com/2008/12/29/ise-comment-out-a-block-of-text/) Bernd bkriszio[ at ]googlemail.com -- Bernd K

Hi Bernd,

Did you have .NET 3.5 sp1 BETA installed before? You must uninstall
this before instalilng 3.5.1 (which is .NET 3.5 SP1 FINAL )

No, I used a complete new installation. I tried all the steps recomanded in https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=382917&wa=wsignin1.0 and they didn't help. BUT REMEMBER MY QUESTION IS WETHER ISE NEEDS 3.5.1 OR RUNS HAPPILY ON 3.0. ISE only needs 3.0 (WPF).

Hard to question what Oisin says, and I don't have time to look into it,
but if the pre-reqs say 3.5.1, then I'd think there's a reason...

Out-Grid, however, does depend on 3.0 alone. What exactly is your
problem with it?

Installing 3.5.1 implies 3.0 and 2.0 get installed automatically
actually... 3.5.1 isn't a complete remplacement for earlier versions,
just like 3.0 ins't a replacement for 2.0.
