It's very unlikely you have Media Center 2002 if you have a three year old Dell. You almost certainly have MCE 2005.
To see your Media Center Edition version start Media Center and click Settings> General> About Media Center> Software Version.
If you do find as I suspect that you have MCE 2005 you may have an incorrect ident value set in the registry. See the "Ident Set" utility [ at ] http://www.salloway.org.uk/mediacenter/util/index.htm#ident
