Unzipping Files
"someone" <someone[ at ]somewhere.com> 11/21/2008 9:15:21 PM
I downloaded winzip some time ago, but yesterday, while mistakenly believing
I was updating my winzip 9 version, I downloaded a new winzip 12 version.
By doing so, I removed the 9 version and winzip is free for only 45 days.
(I bought my previous version.) I guess there's no way now to get back my 9
version, but I use winzip only to unzip zipped files from the internet. I
believe that Windows XP Pro has an unzipping function built into it. If so,
I don't need winzip, but how do I access it, or do I have to access it?
Thanks in advance.

Try google for 'winzip 9'. You'll find a few hits. Remove 12 and
if you want see if with no winzip installed if the Windows default
takes over, else install your 9 then.

Windows XP does come with a built in ZIP program, nothing to install or
access...
You can either right mouse click on the ZIP file and select "Extract ALL" or
open the ZIP file by double clicking from there copy the contents to the
location you wish.
To ZIP files highlight the files you want to ZIP up > right mouse click >
Send To > Compressed Zipped folder.
This does not leave you many options but it works.

No Googling required. No need to obtain a download from a 3rd party
site. Go to:

http://www.winzip.com/dprob.htm

Version 9 is still listed as a download. Of course, after installing
it, you'll have to enter the product key to register it so you can
continue using it past the trial period.

Thanks. That's all I need, but since I have the license no. for 9, I will
remove 12 and re-download 9.
