autoplay

Running Win XP (home). Have USB hard drive.

When the auto drive is plugged back in, power on USB hard drive, I get an
AUTOPLAY running a bunch of stuff.

With this AUTOPLAY, what is going where??? Why am I getting this?

I hope you get a great answer. I once had that thing shut down. It started
bugging me again but I apparently lost my notes in an email program change.
I'd like it to do like a line in a very old song: "Shut your mouth! Go
away!" Except I'd add a line: "And don't come back again!"

Check for a file called autorun.inf in the root directory of the "auto
drive". You may need to enable viewing of hidden files & folders to see it:
in a Windows Explorer view of the drive, "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View"
tab > under "Hidden files and folders" select "Show hidden files and
folders" > OK. If there's one there, rename or delete it.

If you were to open it with Notepad you'd see what file is being called and
starting up automatically.

Hey, RB. Did this help you any? I didn't have any autorun.infs in any
roots.
