white boxes around menu items
Robert M Jones <robert53newsgroups-ms2[ at ]NOSPAMyahoo.co.uk> 10/23/2008 8:51:02 PM
In my user account (Win XP Home) on some of my "smaller simpler"
programs I see white boxes around the menu items (Notepad Plus for
example - but most other programs do not show this)

This doesn't happen in my adminstrator account if I open Notepad Plus
there, yet I am not aware of any program that loads in user account and
not in admin account.

Anyone got any ideas what might cause this?

(I also get the Proxy Desktop problem at the moment with multiple
incidences of Explorer open, in Task Manager, and explorer windows not
actually opening when shortcuts are clicked on, so have just uninstalled
my Nero DVD burning programs to see if that cures it - but the Notepad
Plus menus are still in little white boxes)

Only started happening three or four weeks ago.

Around the same time I noticed that if I opened the file menu in Firefox
and used Open File... then it was difficult to scroll through the list
of files using the mouse - just hovering over the horizontal scroll bar
in the file dialog, makes the list scroll fast. I can't see any link but
thought I'd mention it. The same thing does not happen for example in
the equivalent dialog in Word 2003.

Antivirus is Sunbelt VIPRE. firewall latest Zone Alarm free.
Just done a full scan with VIPRE - all clear.

Many thanks. Sorry for the vagueness of the question.
