burning issue with media player11
leonessity 11/25/2008 9:16:01 PM
I downloaded a few movies, went to burn them only to have an error occur
saying the file is too big. Can I reformat the file to allow it to fit, and
if so, how?

First this has absolutely nothing to do with Windows Media Encoder, which
is a separate Microsoft video encoding tool.

Second you've given almost zero actual information here. What are the
downloads, size, format etc? And since when has WMP11 burn video (to disc)
anyway? It can officially burn AudioCD's and MP3 CD's - that's it. It can
also transfer video files to supported portable video players.

Without any additional information I can only guess that the "movies" you
have downloaded are VCD/MPEG4 images of around 740MB, which will only fit
on a CD when burned with overburn which none of the built in software of
Windows supports as it will only work with certain brand media.

Follow-up set to microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player

If you have WMM you can publish the movie to your computer and then burn them
to disc with Windows DVD maker, if you have Windows Vista. It all depends on
the size of the file also. I've only ever published up to a 300 MB file and
it compresses it considerably; I know this because I sent the video through
email and my ISP will only send files of up to 10 MB or less (at least that's
what they tell me). Are you running Vista? If so, try that. I have been with
Vista for a year and have forgotten the features of XP....you probably could
burn them through WMM in XP also but I'm not sure.

I forgot...you can also publish the video file to a DVD with WMM, so you can
skip all that other jargon.
