I have a Canon Pixma iP1600 printer, I have set it to print in Grayscale and to only use the Black ink cartridge, the majority of what I print this is adequate, it saves using the colour ink, if I want to print in colour I untick Grayscale and select Black & Colour cartridges.
Last week I was printing a black document in Windows Photo Gallery and I had run out of colour ink. There was sufficient black ink so I left setting to Grayscale and to only use the Black ink cartridge but it didn't print anything, it must mix colour ink to produce the black colour even when I had selected Black ink cartridge previously when I had ink in the colour cartridge.
I opened the document with Paint and it printed perfectly with Grayscale and Black ink cartridge selected.
Does anyone know how to print only using Black cartridge in Windows Photo Gallery?
I am using Vista Home Premium SP1 with all available updates and latest drivers from the Canon web site.
