recovery disk of home basic sp1 raja.amadala <guest[ at ]unknown-email.com> 10/12/2008 10:47:48 AM Hai, I have lenovo y 410 775789Q model with vista home basic sp1(just 20 days back) and they didn't give me any disc related to vista, they just give me two cd s lenovo software gift package and lenovo device drivers, so please tell me how to create recovery disk to repair my computer because i installed linux (fedora) for dual booting, when i want to remove the linux it asks for disk to repair the boot sector, and also please tell me how to reinstall the whole vista ( because they provided C: partition only 30 Gb so i want to extend it,) . they provided one key touch recovery software which is only use ful to get into factory settings i.e C: 30 Gb, so please clarify me how to get the recovery disk and how to reinstall the vista, once again. I already tried for extend volume option by deleting the volume of D:(by making it free space) drive, but it doesn't highlighted, so please help me. -- raja.amadala

Re: recovery disk of home basic sp1 barman58 <guest[ at ]unknown-email.com> 10/12/2008 11:39:53 AM Hi, raja, and welcome to the Vista forums, :party: Unfortunately the Lenovo setup with their recovery partition is a little complicated :( you have the recovery system built into the hard drive but this will only work with a fixed size C: drive of 30GB. You can I believe create disks from the repair partition and then delete the recovery partition, using a 3rd party Disk manager, but this will not work with any other size of C: drive than the default 30GB. The options you have are therefore limited to a 30GB c: and a possibility of recovery in the case of a serious system failure, or change the size of c: and lose all possibility of a recovery.:cry: I know of one case with a member here where this is the focus of an official complaint with Lenovo that is in currently in progress. if you need to sort your Linux problem you may try the disk here ... 'Create a Recovery Disc - Vista Forums' (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/141820-create-recovery-disc.html) I am in the process of writing a tutorial for a method of circumventing this bad implementation by Lenovo, by running certain parts of vista from the D: drive. You may need a generic oem/retail disk to get what you're asking for.
