It is ridiculous to think that uninstalling programs from Control Panel is somehow untrustworthy. When you click on "Remove" in Add/Remove Programs the particular program's own uninstaller is called. So if something doesn't uninstall cleanly, this is the fault of that particular program and not the operating system. Trying to uninstall (remove) an application only from the registry is fruitless as most programs will have many, many entries not easily found. Depending on what program you are trying to uninstall, you may even damage your operating system. Perhaps if you told us the original issue we might be able to give you focused advice.
