I have even tried putting an icon on the desktop by- 1. Right clicking an empty place on the desktop 2. clicking "new shortcut" 3. in the location box typing "shutdown" (without quotes) -s -t 0 4. click finish But it is still slow, so does anyone have any suggestions that would help? O yes, another method I have tried that worked very good 2 or 3 times but quit working was to "press CTRL-ALT-DELETE,which brings up the task mgr.- then continue to press delete while clicking start-then turn off.

Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this information. Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance Tab.
