Whichever "forum" you posted your message to simply relayed it to the Microsoft public newsgroups, which is where I'm reading it. (That forum probably did not inform you that they would do this.) MAYBE it's not hanging. Sometimes the install takes a lot longer than we expect. A half-hour or more is not unusual, but I agree that four hours does seem excessive. But, before giving up, if the HD lights are still blinking and the computer seems to be doing SOMETHING, you might just let it run overnight and see if you are greeted in the morning with the Vista Welcome screen. And sometimes it works to just abort the installation, then try again. Setup may be able to pick up where it left off and finish the job.
You might need drivers for your motherboard or your hard drives. Did a CD or DVD come with your hardware?
