Hi,
I have had the following issues on this PC for over a year and have "lived with it", but I would really like to resolve them.
1. Some folders are very slow (several seconds to a minute) to open/paint the screen. This includes the "My Computer" window/folder. 2. Some folders will not refresh automatically when there is an updated. So, workaround is to press F5. But, this is so bad in some cases that when I'm creating a new subfolder the new folder is not seen until after F5...
I don't know if the above issues are related. I'm thinking, though, that such issues may lend themselves to cause of some general slow performance in some application activities, too....
I don't have any mapped network drives. But, I do confess to having shortcuts to other computer folders (internal to the home network). I've eliminated them in the top folders listed in My Computer, for example, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Is there a systematic approach to isolate/eliminate these problems...?
This is a "barebones kit" from a couple of years ago. System: XP Pro Ver 2002 SP 3. AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 3200+, 2.00 GHZ, 3.00 GB of RAM, Physical Address Extension.
I keep Windows updated current. And it's running latest version of CA suite for AV,ASW,FW
Thanks in advance, cos_kel_pen
