post viral loss of mouse advice requested

I was invaded by a virus a little while ago.

It launched pcvtsSvc.exe. and .aux on launching XP and throughout a session.
I used to delete these as they launched. A consequence of this is my mouse
steadily lost capabilities.

I have now restored my XP Media OS to a date before virus attack but my
mouse does not respond to clicks (the white arrow is visible on screen and
does nove).

I navigate using keyboard shortcuts but cannot open a combo box or such like
and cannot enter information.

Can anyone suggest a way to restore the mouse capabilities under these
circumstances, please?

With thanks

Paul

Try unistalling any drivers for your mouse and rebooting.
When you say restored, did you actually rebuild the system?
To truly clean it up I would suggest rebuild to make certain there are not
hidden files left from the virus attack.
