Mail was working fine for a year. all mail settings were confirmed ok by comcast tech support. my ISP. quit working after I d/l trial version of Microsoft Office. Comcast mail will send ok but windows mail wont? I went back and used sytem restore prior to having the problem. didnt fix it? I removed all mailboxes and re-installed too.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop3', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Comcast is trying to make users switch to a different port number, 587, but has been rather poor at telling their users about this. See if this helps:
