How do I keep my desktop computer from going into Suspend Mode?
Michael 12/16/2008 2:48:05 AM
While logged into AOL, and it isn't being used for awhile, AOL logs me off
with a message "Your account was signed off when your computer was put in
Suspend mode".

I have a Sony VAIO Desktop (Model VGC-RB34G), running Windows XP
Professional.

I've been told change my Power Options by going to Start, Control Panel, and
open Power Options. Then go to the System Standby drop down menu, and hit
"Never".

However, on my computer I have no my Power Options choices. The drop down is
blank and there are no "nevers" to choose from.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank You

Michael

Michael

Open Power Options and you should see three tabs. Open the Power Schemes
tab and there is a Power Schemes window. What appears there. Mine says
Home/ Office Desk. There are a number of alternatives -see scrollbar.
What is selected there affects what it defaults to in the second window
labelled in my case Settings for Home/ Office Desk Power Scheme. When
you have made your selections you need to click on Apply and OK, exit
and restart your computer for the changed settings to take effect.

Hope this helps.
