Update
Patrick <pc[ at ]exciting-income.com> 12/10/2008 10:43:15 PM
Hiya,

I am running xp home and have just installed an update from Microsoft.
I am now getting a screen asking me to activate windows before I can log
on.
I am then informed that Windows is already activated and to log on.
The cycle then repeats!

Please help.
Patrick

It may be that your activation has become "unregistered." Try this
solution, posted by Carey Frisch, MS-MVP:

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter. Then
go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter
again.

FYI - You are prompted to activate Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 every
time that you start the computer

This doesn't work either.
I think SP3 was installed and has caused this problem

Many thanks,
Patrick.

Sadly, that didn't work.
I'm certain it was an update to SP3.
Wished I hadn't bothered now,

Thanks,
Patrick.

I've followed the instructions, but it stalls at a certain part of the
registry. The bit about right-clicking resets under notify.

Notify doesn't exist in my registry!

Thanks,
Patrick.

Do you have any Symantec programs, including Norton?

I've fixed it after following the advice above.

Had to ring Microsoft for a string of numbers to reactivate it.

Many thanks,
Patrick.
