NO SOUND EXCEPT FOR THE "BEEP"
fgriffin[ at ]socal.rr.com 10/13/2008 9:31:01 PM
My hard drive died and I replaced, reloaded windows xp and now when I go to
the contol pannel, and click on 'sounds and audio devices" it tells me "no
audio device", worng, I never touched anything but the hard drive.

Is it telling me i have no sound card, I do came with the machine?
No drivers?
I do get the "beep" that lets me know I have closed a window or what ever,
but no audio on anything.
Suggestions, ideas?
Thank you.

Assuming you did a "Clean Install" of XP.
If so you will need to download and install the drivers
for your Motherboard, Sound Card, Video Card, Etc.

Get these drivers from the PC manufacture's web site
or from the manufacture of the motherboard, sound card,
video card, etc.

Need to identify what cards are installed on your PC.

What happens when you download and install the WinXP-specific audio
drivers, as provided by your sound card's or computer's manufacturer?
