Home Premium -> Ultimate; Can I use the old Home Premium license?
Jarbs <guest[ at ]unknown-email.com> 11/23/2008 9:45:04 PM
I purchased a desktop system with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I purchased Vista Ultimate 32-bit full install (not upgrade) and used it to upgrade my computer to Ultimate. So really, now my Home Premium license isn't being used, and I don't have a CD for it. If I were to find an installation CD, is it possible for me to install Home Premium on another computer with the old license? -- Jarbs

So looks like after I started this thread, the "similar threads" section below came up with a thread that my search didn't find previously. It turns out that the OEM license is not transferrable at all. So I guess my question is answered. :) -- Jarbs

Hi,

If Home Premium was preinstalled by the manufacturer, then what you have is
an OEM license that cannot be transferred to another machine. If you
originally bought the retail version of Home Premium, then by all means you
can use it on another machine.
