software application recovery
hilaryRockJones 12/30/2008 3:49:03 PM
I can see the application Excel in the C:\Backup folder created during a full
system restore with backup, but obviously it won’t run!! - Is there a way to
re-install or restore one program (Excel 2003) from this directory, thru some
method other than the CD as I have lost the CD. I have the original box, the
Cert of Auth and every other application CD, which I have successfully
reinstalled with orig CD's, OR can I restore only the Excel program from the
C:\Backup folder using the F11 system recovery option allowed at computer
restart?

You can repair the whole Office suite by doing this:
try to repair/install the Office Suite by going to
Add/Remove programs and click on Remove button on the XP Office 2003 a pop up
window will come up with three options one of them Repair Radio button,
please select that to repair the Office File structure and if the Caches of
the setup located in this directory (C:\Backup)you can point the installer to
it.

If you don't have the CD, try to read this article:
Locate missing .msi files
