Yesterday computer 1 was upgraded from Win2k pro to WinXP pro. I noticed that during the installation, NetBEUI was uninstalled. This may not be important, just a sidenote.
My home network configurations is as:
Computer 1 has two adapters. Adapter 1 connects to high speed modem, and is DHCP enabled. Adapter 2 conntects to the hub (my home network), its IP was manually set to 192.168.0.1. After XP installation, I notice its new IP is automatically set using DHCP. (After I had problem with ICS, I switched back to 192.168.0.1. But I had the same problem using either old and new settings.)
Computer 2 and 3 are ICS clients. Their only adapter is connected to the hub and IP is set automatically thru DHCP enabled. They are still running Win2K pro.
The problem is that all other computers can't share the Internet Connection thru computer 1 after computer 1 was upgraded to XP. For example, computer 2's network adapter had IP address 192.168.0.1, now it is 169.254.213.90. It is clearly not right. Any suggestion to solve my problem? Thank you very much.

By the way, Computer 1 is running XP sp3 and MaAfee Firewall. All other computers are running Win2K Pro sp4 and free version of Zonealarm Firewall..

The 169.254.x.x addresses indicate that the ICS running on Computer 1 is not providing DHCP services to your other computers. Check to see that ICS is enabled and running on Computer 1 (or maybe turn off then on with a reboot inbetween). Firewalls may also interfere. Temporarily disable/remove firewalls to see it helps the problem.

Thank you very much. You are right. I didn't turn on ICS on Computer 1 correctly. After I did, Computer 2's network adaptor has been assigned IP address 192.168.0.32. Now Computer 1 can access Computer 2's shared files and use the printer connected to Computer 2.
My remaining problem is that Computer 2 still can't access the Internet, like getting ZoneAlarm patches or use web browsers like Fire Fox and Internet Explorer. What should I do ?
Thanks again,

Hi If for some reason you do need NetBEUI (it is not needed for Internet purposes), then read this page. http://www.ezlan.net/netbeui.html Jack (MS, MVP-Networking)
