Hi y'all
I've installed a new motherboard, graphics card and hard drive on my old
computer. I've kept the same DVD drive. Upon installation of XP Home on the
new hard drive (including all the chipset drivers on the MB installation
disk), I've been unable to get the DVD RW working in anything other than Safe
Mode/Administrator.
When in one of the user accounts (my normal workspace), the Device Profile
shows the DVD drive there and functioning properly, but the 'My Computer'
interface shows only 'CD drive'. Clicking on the CD drive icon crashes the
browser. I've tried updating the DVD drive driver from the Device Manager,
but no new drives were found.
Is this a hardware problem, or an XP quirk that I need to organize?
