User rights management
IBlubb 12/18/2008 2:18:09 PM
Hi,

I'm pretty new to Windows Embedded and need some information about user
rights management.

The concrete scenario:

My boss wants to ship our software on systems running Windows XP Embedded.
However, it is very important for us that there are restrictions regarding
user permissions.

A "normal" user should only be allowed to start our software and Windows
Explorer, but no other programs. Furthermore, he may not change any of the
OS's settings. Additionally, we want to hide certain files and folders from
him.

On the other side, we also need some kind of admin account which has "full"
access to the system so that our software engineers can do some maintenance.

Is this possible using Windows Embedded XP?

Thanks in advance,

Florian

A custom security template can be created to limit user access. The online
help has an example.
