Try going to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager Find your device, and right-click then choose "Uninstall"
Once that's completed, disconnect and reconnect the MP3 player. Ensure you insert any CD requested which might contain "driver" software for the MP3 player, then re-try media player to see if it's now picking it up.
