I have vista ultimate and when I turn on the computer, I get the message "BOOTMGR is compressed" I tried running the vista CD recovery, but i still got the same message, then I did a complete reinstall and still got the same message. I have a drive "C' that I did the reinstall on... and I have a drive"D"...should I run the install on that also? or what should I be doing? thanks for your help breezyyb

What are the attributes of the drive? Is C on a different physical drive than D? When you re-installed did you delete the partition and re-create and format it?

HI C & D are on the same drive and I didnt delete & format anything. I just ran the vista CD. I think it asked if i wanted to repair or just install & on which drive to install....I will try again though, that will help? thanks again!!

I did format and did the reinstall and it seems like it works now just fine! I didnt even think of the format part....sorry to bother you guys! but thanks....breezyyb
