What happens to questions that are asked
Craig 12/25/2008 3:18:01 AM
I asked a question and received an email stating there was a response. I
click on the link and nothing just a blank page. Here is the link.

If the web interface for newsgroups isn't working for you, I recommend
giving Windows Live Mail a try. You're already using it for E-Mail, so why
not use it for newsgroups too?

In the lower left corner of the main window in Windows Live Mail, you'll see
some icons. The first one is for Mail. One of the other icons (the order
differs based on your version of Windows Live Mail) is for News. If you
click it, you'll see an interface very similar to your E-Mail. You may
already have the Microsoft Communities newsgroup set up. If not, just add
news.microsoft.com as a newsgroup account. The wizard will ask whether you
have to login, but you can skip that section. Don't forget to subscribe to
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop from the list of newsgroups.

Speaking as a user, I find it really convenient to have access to E-Mail,
RSS feeds, calendars, and news all from one application - Windows Live Mail.

Anyway, that's my personal recommendation. I know nothing of the web
interface to the newsgroups, so I really can't help with that.

Thanks for using Windows Live Mail!

Open WLM
Tools/Newsgroups

Then click on this link

That feature of the web interface is often flakey. Apparently there is
something often broken with the redirect it would imply.

However, you can always extract and decode the implied URL to figure
out where you would have been sent...

Hmm... looks like you haven't given us the whole thing? Perhaps it was
chopped into two pieces?

In any case use the same idea once you assemble the whole thing.
E.g. extract the value of the &url= parameter and then within that
replace anything that looks like hex encoded ASCII by its real character.
For example, in the above URL I replaced %3F %3D and %26
by ? = and & respectively. Use the charmap utility for other translations
when you need more help. E.g. %2F for / is one that you may
also need in this scenario. Etc.

Good luck

I was getting a blank page or no new posts from Dec 23rd. I was finally able
to see new posts and the posts I had submitted. I turned off Protected Mode.
Worked for me. Wonder why a Microsoft site would be unviewable if protected
mode is on? Weird
