Can this crap be turned off ?

I want the Windows XP logon screen, or as like as I can get.

Can this be done via group policy ?

Here's what I did, don't know how the domain environment affects it:

Force as close to the the "classic" logon as Vista can get:

Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative
Tools -> Local Security Policy ->Local Policy -> Security
Options ->"Interactive logon: Do not display last user name" = Enabled,
"Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL" = Disabled

Start -> gpedit.msc -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon ->
Hide entry points for Fast User Switching = Enabled, always use classic
logon = enabled

Not sure if it is all needed or not, but it worked for me. Good luck!

I think the "Hide entry points for Fast User Switching = Enabled" can
only be set on machines which are not part of a domain. ie: not
available in domain environment.

Could be, the machines I'm working with are off-domain. As I said, it
might not actually be necessary to set all of those to get the desired
result. Try it without that setting and see.
