Windows Task Manager, Processes' tab
"Don H. Reed" <Donhreed[ at ]starpower.net> 11/29/2008 9:53:01 PM
Why is it that when I close a program (Ex. Outlook) it remains open in the
'Windows Task Manager, Processes' tab? Sometimes there are multiple copies
open.

How due a get these applications to close (End Process) when the program
closes?

Asked and answered in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Does that mean you're telling me I should subscribe to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general just to get your answer.

I'd like to know the answer but I think I'll pass on that.

oh well......

He's t elling you that you also posted there, separately, in addition to
here. So if you want to see the answers to what you posted there,
you'll have to go there. Had you crossposted, you'd have seen all
answers here and ther both, until you read them, and they they'd be
marked read here and there.

How to get a good response: take a pass on good advice instead of asking
about that which you don't understand.

Way wrong, I didn't post anything. I am subscribed to this newsgroup. I
read HIS post, would like to know the answer to HIS question because I was
interested.

oh well......

So either your read it there or someone else has to post it here just
for you. If you won't make the supremely difficult effort of either
subscribing or searching google, you may have a long wait.

Well I read it here, I did NOT read it there. No one else even knows I'm
subscribed to this group and I don't know anyone else in this group so I
don't really believe anyone did me that favor. If a question is posted here
it seems like it would be a common courtesy to answer it here but I know
that to answer the question where it is posted must be a supremely difficult
task for you.

oh well......

The common courtesy would have been for the original poster to have
cross-posted instead of multi-posting in the first place. That way, replies
would have automatically gone to all groups, as Twayne described. Curt was
merely pointing out the multi-posting and in which group this has been
answered (and not answered by him, for that matter). If you're curious to
know the answer, then I'm afraid that it falls to you to seek it out - it's
not as if there's much effort or any expense involved.

PA Bear's answer, in a word, was: malware.
