I've been living with this problem for about 2 months, but today I felt inclined to try and solve the issue.
Here's the problem. When I embed images into HTML emails, nothing shows up, just a blank space.
Here's a link to a screen shot
http://cid-51d960fa7c8bf65b.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/Image%20Bug.Windows%20Live%20Mail.png
I thought it might be simply be a bug with rendering, but it seems that is not the case, as when I send an email to myself a red 'X' is rendered in the image location.
I found thread that indicated this was an issue with IE 8 Beta 2. I uninstalled IE 8 Beta 2, reinstalled Windows Live Writer and I'm still broken.
Please help. Dylan Phillips dylan.phillips[ at ]live.com

Dylan,
this is really a beginners or let's M$ error. You probably tried to embed a JPG file. Inside the mail this picture gets a .bmp extension. When you view the mail, the viewer seems to follow the extension and fails. If you save the file to disk and rename it to JPG you can view it again.
Other than that I really like the new M$ tools including Live Mail. It's been about time that M$ puts something up against g**gle.

oppiTronic:
Definately not an .jpg issue. The image is coming from the clipboard, (that should be a Picture Windows MetaFile). In any case, it used to work. Then stopped working, so the IE 8 Beta hypothesis sounds correct. Unfortunately, the uninstall IE 8 Beta, reinstall Windows Live Desktop, dance did not succeed.

Have you checked the settings on the [Tools >] Options > Send > HTML Settings page? What transfer encoding are you using? Does the problem still occur if you choose another variety? And which OS are you using (I guessed the program version was 12.0.1606 from your screenshot, but I can't tell which OS it is.) -- Noel

Encoding: 'Base 64' encoding. Although the problem also occurs with 'Quoted Printable' Problem occurs with all 3 settings for encoding. OS is Vista, with most recent patches.
