my system is a Dell Dimension 4700C with Windows XP Professional SP2. I recently upgraded to SP3 via download from a microsoft site. The reinstall cd that came with the system is for SP2. Do I need a reinstall cd for the SP3, should I find it necessary to do a reinstall - as I did a couple of times with the SP2 - or will I just have to try and download a new copy from the microsoft site? thank you

If you had a retail winxp sp2 cd you would create a new slipstreamed version containing sp3, however you have a Dell reinstallation cd which I don't believe you can do this with. Either obtain the sp3 cd or download the administrative sp3 installation from MS

Do you know how to create a CD using an .iso file? You can download the entire SP3 upgrade from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en
If you scroll down the page you'll see this:
DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is now available on Windows Update. The best way to ensure you get Windows XP Service Pack 3 is by turning on the Automatic Updates feature in Windows XP.
If you've already reinstalled a couple of times, you might want this full version of SP3? I used it to update a fresh install of Windows XP SP2 home edition.

Did you see my other reply? I use Nero to burn CDs and it can burn a CD from the .iso file you can download for free. If you're on dial-up then the d/l will be really, really time consuming but with my cable modem it wasn't too bad.

Then the push won't be coming to shove. Merely download the .iso and burn it onto a CD.
Here's the link:

No need to purchase anything. :-)

[Quoted Text] I'm using SeaMonkey as my browser. Hate to post that in a MS newsgroup but that's what I use.
I cleared the Cache and my urls still work so I'm not sure why we're seeing two different pages from the same url?
I tried both in IE6 and the link to the .iso file works but the link to order the CD does give the same message you get. SeaMonkey works and IE6 doesn't. Hmmm.
Thanks, I'll change the url in my notes to reflect the one that works in both browsers.

I've used Firefox, K-Meleon, Opera, and Off-By-One in addition to IE. I don't think using a Microsoft browser is a prerequisite to post in these newsgroups. :-)
How do you like SeaMonkey? I always thought it was merely a combination of Firefox and Thunderbird. Or is it something else?

Yeah, that's weird. I guess IE can be particular. Then again, sometimes the opposite is true. It all comes down to the code, I guess.

YW.

For lack of a better description, it's the old Netscape or as you put it, a combination of Firefox and Thunderbird. Based on the same engines? Or whatever you call that, the code?
